We're in trouble now ... update

Hayden was sitting on my lap earlier as I sneaked in a few minutes of blog reading. This is not normally allowed but it's Sunday, gosh darn it, and lately my child has been experimenting with something called the '20 Minute Nap and 9 PM Bedtime', so I was (guiltily) but happily indulging.*

I was reading one of my favourite blogs - Gypsy Scholar - when Hayden spied a photo of Pope Benedict XVI. And gasped. And said "Nan-nee! Nan-eeee!".

WTF? The Pope looks nothing like my beautiful mother. Nothing! Although she is beatific. And I suppose my mom looks more like a Pope than a fridge - which is the last thing H mistook her for.

(I've included a photo - but I have to say - finding a photo of my mom, alone, facing the camera and/or not smothered by hordes of children and grandkids and admirers is HARD! Anyway, you get the picture (!). They don't look alike. AT ALL.)~

This reminded me of something similar Baby Ivo's mom blogged about a while ago, and it made me wonder about the things that must be going on inside my little girl's head. So much learning/ so much confusion! Perhaps it's a good thing she can't articulate better; she probably thinks I'm a cow or something.

Part 3

I started to write this looong post a week or two ago and even in that time Hayden has learned - and changed - so much. She now lays her shoes on the living room floor (which is gently forbidden) and then wags her finger at them and says "no, no, no". She has a new favourite book (Chicka Chicka Boom Boom), she will only get out of the bathtub (tear-free) if we first take out the plug and sing "bye bye mool (water), bye bye". She blows kisses, she pretends to do magic tricks by erratically waving her hands in the air while saying "TA-DA! Gone! Gone!", she makes "vrrooom vrroom" noises when she sees a motorcycle, she likes to really cuddle now, and ... she has three new teeth!

Also - this is cute - I'm still nursing her so when she's had enough milk she will pull down my bra (to cover me up) and then pat me a few times, as if to say -"that's enough now, thanks. You can go away". Maybe she's spending too much time watching me drink coffee.

As for me and The Illustrious Mister Lee? Well, we've agreed to stay at least one more year in Korea (I've just signed on for another year here at KAIST) but we really were thinking about Qatar or Siberia for a while. That's how happy we felt with Korea/ourselves and the direction our crowded little lives were headed.
Gak.

But all that nastiness has passed, for the time being, and the evidence has been archived. We're going to be kicking around Daejeon for another while yet. We've scratched out Siberia as an option though, and replaced that possibility with Hong Kong. So who knows what adventures are in store for us in 2008-2009?

I'm going to be taking a bloggy break for a while (I really, really, really have SO much work to do) BUT I'M NOT GOING AWAY FOR LONG. I like my blog. And I like the [secret number] of you who read it! So I'll be back in January FOR SURE. And I'll still post occasionally, but will try to limit myself to short paragraphs or funny limericks. The occasional haiku or sonnet or something. And I'll keep reading all of your* blogs. And I'll keep uploading MP3s. I don't look at at my blog stats very often but I recently took a glance to see just how many people were actually downloading MP3s - and I was happily surprised. LOTS and LOTS OF YOU LIKE MUSIC!!!! Although, when polled, only 14 of you admit to it. Well, whatever. Maybe you're shy. Maybe you're lazy. Maybe you hate polls.

Anyway. Welcome to Chez Woori. Around here, we dance all the time.
