- Sweet Hayden has pneumonia, tonsillitis and an ear infection in each ear.
- I'm looking for a new job - and possibly a new husband too.
- I love this hot Spring weather.
Only one of those statements is false.
The first half of 2008 has been shitty but we're hoping for a turnaround. Miracles needed.

Telling you all where to go ...
Here's something I've been meaning to mention. My friend and workmate - Dr. Simon Combe - is an amazing man. He knows more about movies and music and books than anyone I have ever met, he has about a thousand degrees (he collects them, or something), he can talk seriously (or not) about any topic under the sun, he cooks great vegetarian food - and, if that isn't enough, he's also a very nice person. If I call him up and say "hey Simon, I'm just dying to hit the department store so I can try on shoes! Do you want to come with me and carry my shopping and make sure Hayden doesn't get swallowed by the Rabble?!! " he will most probably say "yeah sure, it'd be good for me to get out of the house for a while". And, no, he isn't gay, he isn't interested in me and does not have a shoe/foot fetish. He's JUST THAT NICE.
Honestly, It's almost weird.
Anyway. Simon obviously feels he has too much time on his hands - although I don't know how this can be possible since he spends a prodigious amount of time making stellar Power Point Presentations for his classes and baking crumpets for his students. But anyway, I digress. Because he has more time than anyone else in the world, he has also started blogging. Yes. There it is. He also blogs.
BUT. He doesn't just do what I do! He doesn't just fill up space with personal anecdotes and quasi-pedagogical musings, no, no. Simon does something very useful. He has created a blog called DAEJEON WHAT'S ON which endeavours (very successfully) to bring every. possible. thing. that is happening in the fine city of Daejeon to the eyes and ears and lives and pocketbooks of foreigners everywhere. And also Koreans. And even small animals. So. The whole world basically.
If you take a look at the website you'll find links for cinema, concerts, restaurants, bars and live shows. If you click on *those* you can find timetables, maps and other bits of helpful information. And I'm sure, somewhere, encoded into the html, he has probably hidden the secret to happiness. In 5 obscure languages.
Right. So this rapid-fire shout-out is all about DAEJEON WHAT'S ON. Check it out and, trust me, if you're ever in our neck of the woods you'll probably find that it'll come in handy. He's done a good thing.
This concludes my Saturday post. Next Saturday - my favourite music blogs!

Grrrr...lz? Or boys?
Makes me furious EVERY TIME. Old subject - but still needs to be talked about. So go ahead, tell your friends that Koreans abort female fetuses and shame, shame, shame some bad people today.
I'll post something happy tomorrow. Maybe a photo of me and my FIVE SISTERS???
Grrrr. I take it personally. I do.

Oooo you ...
This morning Hayden spilled some of her milk on the floor. I ran to the kitchen to get a towel and when I came back she was standing, immobile, with the half tipped cup in her hands, just staring woefully at the mess on the floor.

Thinking she might feel bad at my sudden rush to the kitchen I said to her "it's ok baby ... just put it down here" and I patted the small table in front of us. Hayden suddenly came to life and, smiling gleefully, proceeded to pour the remaining milk aaaalllll over the table.
I! LOVE! MY! CHILD!
She's so funny. And typing of funny - here's a song that always makes me grin.
